  • Jennifer Almond (30) - Bi-racial

    Jennifer is warm-hearted and caring. She has a career she loves helping displaced women and children. She has great friends who support her and she leads a vibrant social life. She is an only child and has a very strong, loving relationship with mother. Her mother has taught her to be independent. She is a fierce advocate for others but grapples with insecurities about speaking and standing up for herself. Her challenge is to find her strength and voice.

  • Ashli Griffin (26) - White / Asian

    Ashli is a young adult who is trying desperately to get away from her overbearing mother. She is at a disadvantage because while she has a degree in art history from a prestigious Ivy league university, she doesn't work and lives off of an allowance provided by her mother. Although Ashli is immature and spoiled, she is starting to realize that she cannot find happiness and fulfillment until she proactively makes positive life changes.

  • Claire Almond (50's) - Black

    Claire is bright and cheerful. She has a demanding career that she enjoys and a full social life. She had a rough time dealing with the loss of her husband, but pulled through with the support of friends and family. She is fiercely protective of her only child and does everything she can to help her succeed. She is a practical woman who believes there is an answer and solution to every question and problem.

  • Mara Griffin (50s) - White / Asian

    Mara is the product of a very wealthy family. She owns one of the top real estate agencies on the eastern seaboard and is ruthlessly ambitious and dismissive of those who don't see her way. She is not maternal and wants to wield complete control over her offspring. The family owns a large number of properties in Manhattan and Brooklyn. She knows the secret hiding in the Brooklyn brownstone but is unwilling to share that with her daughter Ashli, who now resides there.

  • Lily (30) - LBGTQIA (Any Race)

    Lily is a native Brooklynite. She and Jennifer have been friends for a long time. She cares a lot about her circle of friends, which she considers family. She loves her job working with displaced women and children and hopes that her contribution makes a difference. She is ambitious and plans to open her own agency one day that will help compromised communities.

  • Deborah Griffin (28) - White / Asian

    Deborah is Ashli's older sister. She works with her mother in the family business, owns her apartment in the city and has a vibrant social life. She has a very strong personality and does not feel overwhelmed by her mother. She does her best to act as a barrier between Ashli and Mara.

  • Adam (30s) - Black

    Adam is a transplant from Detroit. He has lived in New York for about 10 years and is a staff writer for a major television network. He frequents a lot of bars and restaurants around the city as a way of gathering material for the book he is writing. He lives in the apartment above Ashli and admits that he has heard strange noises coming from her apartment. He doesn't mind because it provides a sense of mystery that he likes and uses it as inspiration when writing.

  • Draven (30's) - Any Race

    Draven is bad news, yet he has managed to avoid run-ins with the law. He is a predator and preys on young women. He looks for weakness and then exploits it. He is good looking and women are initially attracted to him but quickly realize there is an underlying bad vibe about him and he should be avoided at all costs.

  • James Hazen (28) - Any Race

    James is a spoiled rich kid. He is only interested in things or people if there is an immediate benefit to him. He doesn't have to work but has joined the family firm, taking credit for work done by others. He is currently dating Ashli, but is on the lookout for what may be the next best thing.

  • Brone Duggal/Monster - (Ancient) - Black

    No one knows where Brone Dugal comes from but they have been haunting closets since the first one was built. They have haunted the Griffin's brownstone closets for over 100 years. Over the years, some family members have encountered Brone Dugal and accepted them, steering clear of the apartment and leaving it mostly vacant. Brone Dugal has never hurt anyone and lives a lonely existence scaring away those who come near.

  • Neighbor (40s) - LBGTQIA (Any Race)

  • Jake (31) - Black

    Jake and Jennifer met in college and have been friends ever since. Jake secretly adores Jennifer and would like to date her but is afraid if it doesn't work out it will compromise their friendship. He likes his job at a PR agency and is currently on the fast track for a VP position. He spent a year after college traveling through Europe and Asia. He likes being around interesting people and craves constant intellectual stimulation.

  • Vagrant (40s) - White

    A miscreant. He hangs out on the street harassing women.

  • Young Ashli (8 - 10) - White / Asian

    Ashli is a young child with a mother, who is distant and not tolerant. Ashli’s nighttime fears centering on a monster in the closet frustrate her mother. Ashli wants her mother’s protection but realizes it may not be there. Her fear is very real and she is at a loss of what to do.
